What's In My Makeup Bag - Aniska Tonge
Aniska Tonge is the current Miss US Virgin Islands and will be competing in the Miss World pageant which takes place in London on 14th December. When she isn’t pageant prepping, she is usually brainstorming her next story as a freelance journalist or practicing lines for a new play. She also runs a foundation called 4Her, which is a non-profit dedicated to promoting the positive progression of young women personally, professionally, and socially. Busy lady - however she took time out to tell us whats in her makeup bag.
Describe the items in your makeup bag.
The items in my makeup bag are pretty standard. I bet everyone thinks I have a million different things to put on my face, but quite the contrary. I've got maybe five lip colours ranging from Ruby Woo by MAC to Nude (in relation to my complexion) by Gaspar Cruz Cosmetics. I love blush as much as I love a good deal so my go-to blush is the Milani Baked Powder Blush from Walgreens and it costs seven dollars. I love makeup but it's a skill that takes a lot of training and my training stops at basic contouring and highlighting. But I can pull off the drama when I need to. Just recently I did my own makeup in my theatre debut of the killer musical, Chicago.
Which is your favourite item in your makeup bag?
Ooooh, tough one. I'm much more of a skincare type girl even when it comes to makeup. So I'd have to say my favourite makeup product is my Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque. I have a super oily T-zone so I masque once a day for about three days a week to make sure that when I do put on my makeup, my skin is less oily and my pores are nice and tight. But my favourite makeup is definitely my lip colours from MAC; Ruby Woo, Diva and Girl About Town. They're probably the top three colours I feel most comfortable wearing as a Woman of Colour. Plus they can all be worn at day or night and my days are so hectic I rarely have time for touch ups or makeup changes so they are extremely convenient.
Where did you get your makeup bag from?
My mom bought it. I was lugging my makeup around in one of those bags you get a really fancy bottle of perfume in and she reprimanded me for it and got me the cutest pink bag a day later. I love pink so it worked out.
