Getting your nails done makes you feel put together and giving yourself a DIY manicure can do wonders for your mood. We have put together a list of Black-owned nail polish brands in Britain.

Telle Moi

This classy brand was created by Natel Allen and the name means ‘like me’ because she wanted everyone to feel that the brand catered to them. Telle Moi is vegan, hand made, cruelty free and not tested on animals. Natel created it because she could not find a nail polish colour she liked. The colours consists of nude shimmers, pastels and glitters. 

MYNX London

This brand was created by Haydawn in 2015 from her desire to produce a high quality luxurious product that is high end quality without the price tag.  Well she certainly met her objective, because these polishes are very lush. The object of MYNX is to celebrate uniqueness. Each lacquer is designed with the unique woman in mind. Women who want to embrace their unique traits and emphasise it boldly and safety with colour.

Pillbox Cosmetics

This is an indie nail polish brand which was created by Afua Darkoh. They launched last  year with 21 shades. In addition to traditional prêt-à-porter nail lacquers, they offer the UK’s first online Custom Colour Service. Afua introduced this process to give her customers the freedom to create a personalised product that celebrates their individuality. From sending in a reference photo/describing the colour they want to naming the end product, customers who use their unique Custom Colour Service are included in the creative process of developing their polish.

516 Polish

Founded by Wunmi Ladele, 516 Polish is a vegan, cruelty free and non-toxic brand who aim to celebrate and inspire Black and Asian women. They provide a unique line of nail polish, gel polish and nail care, specifically formulated to complement a diverse range of skin tones. Their traditional nail polish range is handmade which makes their colours exclusive. Also they swatch their products on a wider spectrum of skin tones, from the deepest to the lightest shades. 

Manicure You London

Nicola decided to create Manicure You London after years of having acrylic nails and shellac polish manicures, which damaged her nails. She wanted to create a product that would allow your nails to breathe, be nurtured and grow whilst still rocking the latest shades. The brand is all about luxury with affordability. They have many shades from neons, nudes, pinks, blues and yellows.

AJ Nails Collection

This brand was created by Ashleigh Johnson in 2018 and her polishes are inspired by important people in her life and special memories she has made. The products are 10 free, vegan and cruelty free. AJ Nails Collection are proud are also approved and accepted into the Beauty Without Bunnies Program with PETA. 

Bianca Miller London

This collection is created by Bianca Miller (from The Apprentice) who also founded the skin tone hosiery range. She offers a gel nail varnish collection  with high shine, high quality finish. They are also 100% vegan friendly and cruelty free. While her nail collection contains gorgeous shades of nudes there are also rich shades of reds, pinks and purple.
